Joel Daugherty, M.A., LPC-S
It took a lot of counseling before and after my divorce to realize I'd found what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Unresolved issues from my childhood led to the demise of my marriage, but a love for counseling emerged from the ashes of a broken heart! We are all marked by brokenness in some way; but there's beauty in the brokenness, because it brings humility, deep connection with others, and ultimately, much grace. I love working with broken hearts because there's a common thread in our stories - the need for hope and help from each other.

I'm a Lake Charles, LA native and have been working with youth and families for the past 20 years. I received my undergraduate and Masters of Counseling Psychology degrees from McNeese State University, and I have a Bachelors of Religious Studies from Logos Christian College in Jacksonville, FL. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor Board Approved Supervisor (LPC-S) in Louisiana, and a credentialed Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE). I've also worked as a crisis assessor and interventionist for a local non-profit family agency. But most importantly, I'm a husband and dad to a blended family with10 children.

I look forward to hearing your story, and working together towards healing and personal growth.
"Joel was a blessing to our family, and he came into our lives at a time when we needed him the most and we didn't even know it fully yet. We were dealing with issues of depression all over our home, in many different aspects of our home, and through different eyes of our home. They were clashing with one another and we had to fix the explosions happening daily with our teenage son. He had become rebellious, out of control, and unmanageable. Then Joel entered our lives and showed us a way to understand our son in a way no other counselor had been able to reach him, and no one to this day has reached him the same way. Thank you, Joel, from the bottom of this mother's heart, for teaching me how to communicate with my son's emotional heart." - Angelique R.
